As part of its commitment to building a stronger innovation and technopreneurial ecosystem, Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), through its Technology Business Incubator (TBI) and in collaboration with the Innovation and Technology Support Services Office (ITSSO) and Office of Research Services (ORS), successfully conducted the 6th Huntahan Seminar Series on the Transfer and Commercialization of SLSU Products and Technologies on May 26–27, 2025 at the 3rd floor of SLSU Library, Main Campus.

This initiative aligns with the CALABARZON Development Plan 2023–2028 and Republic Act No. 10055, reinforcing the university’s mandate to bring publicly funded research to the marketplace. The seminar aimed to equip participants—including faculty-researchers, non-teaching personnel, and members of the Technology Transfer – Technical Working Group (TT-TWG)—with practical knowledge in financial analysis, marketing strategy, and technology readiness for successful commercialization of SLSU-developed products and technologies.

The first day began with the Opening Remarks delivered by Dr. Nicanor L. Guinto, Director of ORS, who emphasized the university’s growing responsibility in bridging research and enterprise. He was followed by a Message from Dr. Frederick T. Villa, University President, who highlighted SLSU’s strategic direction in aligning with national innovation goals, specifically its technology transfer and commercialization endeavors. Dr. Marissa C. Esperal, Vice President for Research, Extension, Production, Development, and Innovation (REPDI), also gave a motivating message that encouraged active participation and collaboration for research commercialization.

The session then proceeded with a lecture by Asst. Prof. Princess M. Feliciano of Cavite State University, who tackled the Financial Framework for Commercialization. She underscored the importance of prioritizing financial analysis and projections to anticipate business sustainability and avoid failure.

“Kapag sa business, either business plan model or capstone man ‘yan, it is really important to conduct financial analyzation and projection for it will foresaw the success of your target business,” she advised.

Participants were grouped for a hands-on workshop where they developed financial projections for their selected technologies. Each group presented their output, practicing financial planning and critical thinking.

The second day commenced with an inspiring message from Dr. Jennifer Edytha J. Lagrazon, Center Chief/Manager of the TBI, who emphasized the importance of integrating commercialization thinking in all stages of research and innovation. She encouraged the “handpicked” participants to take initiative and become advocates of technology transfer within their respective units.

The morning session featured Asst. Prof. Gener T. Cueno, also from Cavite State University, who presented a comprehensive lecture on the Marketing Plan for Technology-Based Products. He discussed how to create customer-focused strategies, design value propositions, and select effective sales channels. His workshop centered on the Value Proposition Canvas, with participants applying the framework to SLSU-developed technologies.

Each group was given time to present their canvases, engaging in peer learning and feedback sessions. Participants also reflected on their key takeaways during the closing plenary.

The two-day event concluded with the Closing Remarks from Dr. Lagrazon, who challenged participants to transform their learning into actionable strategies and champion SLSU’s commercialization efforts.

“Technology transfer is more than compliance—it’s about impact and income. Through collaboration, we can elevate our innovations beyond the campus and into communities,” she affirmed.

The 6th Huntahan Seminar Series not only deepened participants’ understanding of financial and marketing frameworks for technology transfer but also cultivated a stronger commitment to commercializing university innovations—solidifying SLSU’s role as a regional driver of inclusive, science-based development.
