Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) is in talks with De La Salle University's (DLSU) Social Development Research Center (SDRC) to fortify its qualitative research capabilities. On February 5, a virtual exploratory meeting, led by representatives from both institutions, concentrated on laying the foundation for collaborative capacity-building initiatives and research project implementation, with emphasis on qualitative research
The meeting identified key topics for an upcoming capacity-building series, covering aspects such as proposal writing, data collection, and publishing research. SLSU representatives, specifically Dr. Marissa C. Esperal (Vice President for Research, Extension, Production, and Development), Dr. Nicanor L. Guinto (Director of the Office of Research Services), Dr. Shiela M. Manzanilla (Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences), and Dr. Vanessa Zubieta (Dean of the College of Teacher Education), expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential as it offers a valuable opportunity for SLSU faculty members to enhance their qualitative research skills and a stronger research network with DLSU researchers.
Dr. Homer J. Yabut, SDRC Director, emphasized that the collaboration holds the promise of forging closer ties between the institutions, enabling potential joint research projects in the future. Further, the partnership envisions SLSU’s faculty members, equipped with enhanced research skills, contributing to the research teams participated by universities other than DLSU. This reciprocal arrangement underscores the collaboration’s mutually beneficial nature, providing both institutions with shared knowledge and expertise
The next steps involve finalizing a Memorandum of Agreement and planning the rollout of the capacity-building series during the first half of the fiscal year.
