Extension Services

The extension services, under the office of Vice President for Research, Extension, Production, Development and Innovation, focuses on community development through trainings, seminars and workshops which are participated by the office and/or the university colleges together with different sponsoring agencies. The office also aims to promote and commercialize technology.

A technology resource center for Quezon Province and nearby provinces.

The office aims to assist the community in developing their full potentials towards acquiring capability and self-reliance to uplift the quality of life.

Environmental Governance

Agriculture and Rural Development

The university adheres to the participle that national development can be achieved through if only rural areas progress and attain social transformation. Moreover, as an agricultural nation, agricultural research projects and technologies must be disseminated and used at the farm level. Hence, the university intensifies its efforts in the technology diffusion and adoption process through its different campuses that offer agriculture-related curricular programs, such as College of Agriculture in Lucban, SLSU-Judge Guillermo Eleazar (Tagkawayan) Campus, SLSU Tiaong Campus, and SLSU Infanta Campus.

Community Development

A particular community or clientele group receives a series of activities and programs to uplift their socio-economic and cultural conditions. It can be through training, lectures, seminars, and demonstrations.

Technology Transfer

The university has a pool of experts and linkages which can serve as resource outputs and matured technology. For technology transfer, the university anchors on the following thrusts and priorities:

    1. Apiculture
    2. Organic Agriculture
    3. Arrow Root Production
    4. Bamboo Production
    5. Aquasilviculture
    6. Nipa Sugar Production
    7. Dilis with Malunggay Powder Production
    8. Smoked-fish Production

 

Livelihood and Skills Training

The main objective of livelihood and skills training is to enhance the capacity of out-of-school youth, women, farmers, retirees, repatriated OFWs, displaced workers, and other clienteles.

Institute of Environmental Governance Center

The Institute of Environmental Governance Program or IEG is the strategic response to the ever-increasing demand for capacity building of LGUs. The Program caters to two levels. Level One (I) shall be designed to serve the needs of Barangay Officials and Level Two (II) shall cater to the needs of Municipal, City and Provincial Officials. Both levels will be housed in partner Academic Institutions.

SLSU and ISO meet for a collaborative meeting for environment-related programs in Quezon

Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), through its Office of Extension Services, and the Institute of Social Order (ISO) meet for a collaborative meeting on January 14 at the ISO Office in Quezon City. The discussion focused on strengthening environment-related programs and projects in the province of Quezon.

The Institute of Social Order, a non-government organization (NGO) established in 1947, is dedicated to empowering the poor and marginalized, driving social transformation, and equipping communities to manage their local natural resources sustainably.

During this meeting, both parties discussed their current environment-related projects particularly ISO’s project, “Strengthening Integrated Resources Management in Coastal Communities in Quezon,

Philippines through Participatory Governance,” and SLSU’s collaboration project with Tanggol Kalikasan, Inc. “Environmental Justice Sector Reform Program Phase 3 (EJSRP 3).”

This initial meeting marked a step toward aligning efforts to empower Quezon municipalities along the Philippine Rise, through capacity building and training. The collaboration aims to foster sustainable development and ensure the successful implementation of both projects ensuring environmental governance within their areas.
