On March 18, the Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office IV-A, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lucban, and Paaralang Sekundarya ng Lucban Integrated School (PSLIS) partnered to conduct a Youth Development Session (YDS): Career Guidance Orientation at PSLIS.
The program started with an inspiring welcome address from Dr. Reynaldo V. Nanong, Principal IV of PSLIS. He emphasized the importance of this activity for the future of each participant. “Ang daming prebiliyong inilalaan sa inyo and one of which ay ang mabigyan kayo ng access na makapagtapos at magabayan sa tamang paraan sa pagpili sa hinaharap na kurso o karera na gusto nyong puntahan,” he said. Dr. Nanong encouraged the participants to be grateful for these opportunities and to make the most of them to secure a brighter future.
The event featured motivational talks from YDS graduates who have successfully pursued higher education. Mr. Jimuel A. Peñero, LPT, and Ms. Ma. Hanna Laiza B. Cada, a graduate and student of SLSU, shared their personal journeys. They recounted how the Youth Development Session played a pivotal role in helping them realize their potential and set goals for themselves and their families.
Ms. Geraldine C. Bacagan, head of the SLSU Scholarship and Financial Assistance Unit Coordinator, UniFAST-TES, under the Office of Student Affairs and Services, provided an overview of the academic programs and scholarship opportunities available at SLSU. She emphasizes the importance of selecting the right course to align with their career aspirations. Additionally, Ms. Vianca E. Ibardeloza, representative from Banahaw Technological College, Inc., presented their Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Senior High School Programs, offering alternative pathways for students interested in skills-based education.
