SLSU achievements and efforts highlighted in radio segment

Featured in today’s episode of Tira Brigada of 92.7 Brigada News FM Lucena are the achievements and endeavors of the Southern Luzon State University in its fourfold functions.

The University President, Dr. Frederick T. Villa, was invited for the April 14 episode to highlight the projects of the university. Among these are performance of the university in the licensure examinations, extension projects, infrastructure development, and internationalization.

Currently, SLSU has 23 BOR-approved extension programs including Project Haplas: Help Alleviate Poverty Among LGBTQ; Tanggol Kalusugan ng Agta Tribe; Women Empowerment through Micro-Entrepreneurship; Alalay sa mga Katutubong Bajau tungo sa pag-Ahon at pagYabong (AKBAY), a project to provide basic literacy and numeracy skills for the indigenous people; and Project CROPP PDL (Creating Continual Resources through Organic Plant Production), a skills development program for the persons with deprived liberty.

Moreover, the interview emphasized the ongoing and completed infrastructures, which would greatly improve the services provided by the institution. In line with this, the students undertaking the Doctor of Medicine program will continue to be housed at SLSU Lucena until the College of Medicine Building is completed after more or less two years.

Meanwhile, in terms of becoming globally competitive, Dr. Villa stressed the importance of collaboration with international institutions.

During the last segment, when hosts Mr. Bien Manalo and Mr. David Arena asked for his message for the youth and community leaders, Dr. Villa accentuated the significance of unity and cooperation.
