SLSU AdCo undergoes Midyear Review & Catch-up Planning Activity

To determine the progress and to administer the planning and implementation process, the Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), through the facilitation of the Planning Office, conducted the Midyear Review & Catch-up Planning Activity from July 15 to 17.

For the first part of the program, the University President, Dr. Frederick T. Villa, imparted the Strategic Framework and Roadmap of SLSU from the current year until 2030. The presentation serves as the comprehensive planning blueprint for the university, ensuring that its direction, priorities, and values are aligned with the vision, mission, strategic goals, and core values.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Resource Linkages Office, Dr. Cecilia N. Gascon, showcased strategic insights in educational planning for state universities and colleges, such as data-driven decision making, faculty and staff development, resource allocation and financial planning, and monitoring, evaluation, and adaptive planning.

Next, the members and representatives of the Administrative Council (AdCo) provided updates on their respective units and achievements on the targets for the Key Results Areas (KRAs) including (1) Access & Equity, (2) Quality & Relevance of Instruction, (3) Excellence in Research & Creative Works, (4) Extension Services, and (5) Governance & Management of Resources. The following reports were also presented for information and comments: (1) second quarter’s physical accomplishment based on the Program Expenditure Classification (PREXC), (2) budget utilization and financial statements, (3) status of income generating projects, (4) status of infrastructure projects and plans, (5) student services plan, (6) faculty and staff development plan, (7) information system strategic plan, (8) supply and property manual, and (8) financial management manual.

The activity served as a platform for healthy discussions, aimed at improving the welfare of the university and its stakeholders. Moving forward, Dr. Villa is hopeful that SLSU can elevate its SUC level through the support and effort of all the students, faculty and staff, and other stakeholders.

Dr. Villa also shared the results of the university’s initiative to provide quality education. With the help of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED), SLSU acquired Php 40 million worth of seed funding for the College of Medicine, Php 20 million CHED Sports and Wellness Grant, and Php 19 million CHED Institutional Development and Innovation Grants (IDIG).

In 2026, SLSU targets the following capital outlay projects, through the support of the DBM: (1) Php 50 million electrification upgrade for the buildings & other structures, (2) Php 2.25 million machinery & equipment for the radio station in SLSU Polillo and SLSU Infanta, and (3) Php 10 million for four new vehicles, along with four new casual drivers. In the future, SLSU also expects the approval of four or more manuals, such as the Financial Manual, the REPDI Manual with Ethics Board, the Property and Supply Manual, and the Administrative Manual of Operations. These manuals will serve as guiding frameworks for key operational areas.
