Aspiring for a better future: SLSU celebrates Science, Technology, and Innovation Week

The Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) joins the nationwide celebration of the Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (STW) 2025, from September 23 to 26.

The week-long celebration officially opened today at the SLSU Gymnasium. The Director of SLSU Infanta, Dr. Violeto N. Coronacion, welcomed the attendees to the event.

Dr. Frederick T. Villa followed with an inspirational message. According to Dr. Villa, it is the responsibility of everyone to create a smart and sustainable community.

The opening program was graced by the Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) IV-A, Dir. Emelita P. Bagsit, represented by the Assistant RD for Technical Operations, Engr. Francisco R. Barquilla III; introduced by the Vice President for Research, Extension, Production, Development and Innovation (REPDI), Dr. Marissa C. Esperal. During the keynote speech of Dir. Bagsit, SLSU was commended for the initiative of the STW celebration, emphasizing the importance of bringing science, technology, and innovation closer to the community.

In the spirit of celebration, SLSU and the Provincial Government of Quezon signed a memorandum of understanding to partner on joint research and policy development, among others. The Governor of the Province, Hon. Angelina “Helen” D.L. Tan, represented by her Executive Assistant IV, Mr. Romano Franco C. Talaga, acknowledged the partnership as one of the key components in achieving the goal of the province in the development of economic, governance, infrastructure, resiliency, and innovation.

To formally start the celebration, the officials and guests held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the SLSU Covered Court, where booths of the different campuses and colleges are stationed. All the exhibits are available for visiting until September 25.
