Private Sector Rep. Licup and SLSU spearhead inter-agency tree growing activity

Southern Luzon State University Board of Regents (SLSU BOR) Private Sector Representative, Hon. Nelson C. Licup, and the university spearheaded the inter-agency tree-growing activity on May 27 at Mt. Banahaw de Lucban.

According to Hon. Licup, the activity, Inter-Agency Tree Growing: A Healthy Environment for a Healthier Community, is an effort to combat the worsening effects of climate change and to continue the legacy of his late father, Dr. Robero C. Licup.

The participating agencies include (1) Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM), (2) Bravo Company 404th RRIBn 1701st RRIBde,PA, (3) Lucban Municipal Police Station, (4) Quezon Provincial Police Office, (5) Bureau of Fure Protection – Quezon, (6) Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Lucban, (7) Local Government Unit of Lucban, (8) Barangay Local Government Unit of Lucban, (9) Rotary Club of Lucban, (10) Rotary Club of Lucena Circle, (11) Rotary Club of Lucena South, (12) Landbank of the Philippines Lucban Branch, (13) Tayabas City Environment and Natural Resources Office, and (14) Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Tayabas. With this, the event recorded 320 participants and planted 640 yakal kaliot seedlings – a native tree species, ensuring that the area of Mt. Banahaw de Lucban is properly restored and rehabilitated.

This event is a testimony to SLSU’s commitment to protecting the environment and creating a healthier and more sustainable future.
