On April 12, 2025, SINAG Kalinga Foundation, Inc., in collaboration with the Gender and Development (GAD) Office of Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), hosted its first GAD training seminar at Latriccia's Resort Hotel, Events and Restaurant in Majayjay, Laguna. The event, themed "Gender Sensitive and Gender Responsive Home Care Facility," brought together 25 caregivers and support staff for a day of knowledge-building and capacity development.
The seminar featured Prof. Rene P. Zubieto, Director of the SLSU GAD Office, as the esteemed speaker. He shared invaluable insights into Gender and Development initiatives, emphasizing the significance of gender-sensitive practices in home care facilities. Dr. Frederick T. Villa also delivered a message of support during the program, highlighting the importance of advancing inclusivity and responsiveness in caregiving.
The seminar was spearheaded by SINAG Kalinga’s General Manager, Mrs. Emma Villa, as part of the institution’s commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement in its GAD initiatives. Participants explored foundational topics, such as Basic GAD Orientation and Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIE-SC), to equip caregivers and support staff with the tools to provide equitable and responsive care.
SINAG Kalinga Foundation, Inc. has long been a proactive partner of SLSU, hosting students from nursing, psychology, and education programs for academic immersion projects in geriatric nursing, developmental psychology, mental health, and age-related assessments. This seminar marked a new milestone in their collaboration, showcasing the shared dedication of SINAG Kalinga and SLSU to fostering a more inclusive, gender-sensitive community.
