SLSU, DepEd Quezon signs MOA to support IPs in pursuing college education

On March 17, the Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) and the Department of Education - Schools Division of Quezon (DepEd Quezon) inked a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to support Indigenous Peoples in ensuring that they have access to college education.

The agreement is under the approved institutional research of SLSU and the Development Academy of the Philippines, “Empowering Indigenous Peoples through Higher Education: A Multi-Sectoral Initiative for Career Exploration, Readiness, and College Admission,” anchored on Project T.I.K.A.S. (Tungo sa Integrasyon ng Karunungan at Abilidad ng mga Student IPs).”

This initiative aims to provide a multi-faceted support system tailored to the unique needs of Indigenous students, ensuring equitable access to college education. This partnership is a testament to the shared commitment of both institutions to empower Indigenous students.

The MOA was signed by the University President, Dr. Frederick T. Villa, and Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Rommel C. Bautista in the presence of the Project Leader, Dr. Noreen P. Echague, and the Education Program Supervisor and ALS Focal Person, Ms. Asuncion C. Ilao.
