SLSU, FOI-PMO conducts FOI webinar for transparency promotion

On March 10, Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), through its Records Management Office (RMO), conducted a webinar on Freedom of Information (FOI) to promote transparency, accountability, and responsible governance within the university community.

Resource persons from the Presidential Communications Office – FOI Program Management Office (PMO) discussed the overview and history of the FOI program, the roles of FOI Receiving Officers and Decision Makers, administrative liabilities, appeals mechanisms, and the inventory of exceptions. They also explained guidelines on vexatious requests, proper redaction and extraction of information, and the “No Wrong Door” policy.

Ms. Ma. Judea M. Flaviano, FOI-PMO Administrative Officer, discussed the FOI Program Implementation Updates – EO 02 s. 2016 transparency measures that allow every Filipino to access Information, official records, and public records, among others.

Ms. Jozelle Jhea Dela Cruz, FOI-PMO Compliance Officer, highlighted the importance of FOI submissions, while Mr. Francis Nicolai P. Pallada, FOI-PMO Information and Communications Technology Officer, demonstrated the use of the e-FOI Portal, which is helpful for students and faculty conducting research and accessing public information from government agencies.

The activity supports SLSU’s ongoing commitment to strengthening transparency and empowering stakeholders to effectively use the FOI system.
