SLSU, NCIP IV-A forge partnership for Indigenous Peoples’ welfare 

Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) IV-A to solidify their commitment to future collaborations supporting Indigenous students, June 16.

Representing their respective institutions were Dr. Frederick T. Villa, SLSU President, and Atty. Josefina S. Rodriguez-Agustin, Regional Director of NCIP IV-A.

The ceremonial signing was also attended by SLSU Vice Presidents: Dr. Arvin N. Natividad, the Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Dr. Dhenalyn D. Aquino-Dejelo, the Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Dr. Marissa C. Esperal, the Vice President for Research, Extension, Production, Development, and Innovation. Additionally, Mr. Fil Vincent B. Garcia, Officer in Charge of NCIP-Catanauan CSC, and Mr. Eddielito Sumangil, CDO III of NCIP, were present.

Under the MOA, SLSU and NCIP IV-A will collaborate on initiatives focused on student welfare, research programs, extension projects, gender and development efforts, policy-making, and documentation.

During the event, key SLSU officials and staff, including Asst. Prof. Aurelio Teodoro D. Maguyon III (Dean of Student Affairs and Services), Assoc. Prof. Rene P. Zubieto (Director of Gender and Development), Dr. Nicanor L. Guinto (Director of Research Services), and Ms. Jaquelyn D. Merjudio (Crafts Education Demonstrator from the Office of Extension Services), presented ongoing university undertakings supporting Indigenous communities.

This partnership marks a significant step toward advancing educational opportunities and support systems for indigenous peoples.
