The Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), through the University Health Services (UHS), collaborated with the Tayabas Community Hospital, Inc. – Department of Family and Community Medicine, and the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians, Inc., to conduct a seminar on preventing and managing hypertension, diabetes, and stress.

‎‎On May 13, Dr. Karen Rodil officially opened the event before the doctors from the partnered institutions discussed health among the members of the SLSU Administrative Council (ADCO). The first talk tackled sedentary lifestyle and the benefits of physical behaviors led by Dr. Ron Melvin Balilo. The next part was about understanding hypertension and diabetes, explained by Dr. Princess Jean Evangelista-Barraquio and Dr. Rica Joy Luna. The last topic was on mental health and wellness, led by Dr. Lloyd Vinci Lazaro and Dr. Kim Adarem Joy Manimtim-Cariaga.

‎‎According to University President Frederick T. Villa, DT, this activity highlights the importance of everyone’s health. Similarly, this event is a testimony to the university’s commitment to prioritizing the health and wellness of its employees, which inevitably results in the improvement of bringing quality service to the university’s stakeholders.

‎‎During the closing remarks, UHS Director Jerry Imperial, RN, ensured that more employees would benefit from the wellness seminar as their office would facilitate another event in June, with different participants.

‎‎The event was also made successful through the support of Unilab.
