Through the initiative of the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer led by Dr. Erwin D. Villaverde, the Administrative Council and selected personnel of the Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), together with participants from the University of Rizal System, underwent joint training on Republic Act No. 12009, or the New Government Procurement Act (NGPA), December 9 to 10.
Mr. Akmad J. Usman, CESO III, Regional Director of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Region XII, served as the resource person. The first day of the workshop discussed the overview of RA 12009, including its legal basis, objectives, scope, and salient features. Session 2 was also held on the same day, which highlighted the key changes from RA 9184.
On the second day, Mr. Usman talked about the implementation of RA 12009, such as the roles, responsibilities, and compliance of each end-user, the Procurement Office, and the Bids and Awards Committee, among others.
After the event, both institutions are expected to demonstrate and apply the knowledge and improve the procurement process, reflecting their continuous effort to bring better service to all their stakeholders.
