CIT Extends Its Expertise to Out-of-School Youth and Displaced Workers Through Skills Training

In continuation of the implementation of the approved extension project titled “Skill Training for Out-of-School Youth and Displaced Workers”, the College of Industrial Technology (CIT) conducts the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NCI skills training in November and early December 2023 at the SLSU-College of Industrial Technology.

Jerwin D. Campita, Ms. Mary Grace D. Ruz, Ms. Lovely F. Decena, Mr. Peter Ladines Ms. Maricel O. Lingatong, and Prof, Reynaldo V. Danganan serve as the trainers and facilitators for  the activities. The training workshop includes familiarization, use,  and maintenance of tools and equipment, as well as the application of the system measurement. In addition, they discuss the safety practices in performing laboratory, the principle of 5S, and the different protective clothes and devices that can be used in welding.

The SMAW training is composed of 184 hours of training designed to develop and enhance the knowledge, skills, and attributes of a welder, by the industry standards.

After the activity, the participants expressed their appreciation, as their skills will be used for their additional income.
