College of Teacher Education’s BCAEd and BTLEd passes AACCUP Level 1 Accreditation

The programs, Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAEd) and Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLEd) of Southern Luzon State University - Main secured their Level 1 accreditation from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) on their 1st formal survey visit, July 22-26, via video conference.

The Dean of the College of Teacher Education (CTE), Dr. Vanessa C. Zubieta, introduced the two programs to AACCUP. Prof. Gerlyn B. Javier of Mindoro State University and Dr. Shirley N. Maloles of Bicol University were the accreditors of the BCAEd Program. Meanwhile, Dr. Jude Charrel B. Paez of Cebu Technological University and Dr. Roxanne T. Bongco of Bataan Peninsula State University were the accreditors of the BTLEd Program.

AACCUP is an accrediting body of curricular programs among state universities and colleges. Its main purpose is to develop systems of and conduct evaluation of programs and institutions. Hence, the core faculty of the BCAEd and BTLEd, headed by Ms. Abigail Ann D. Abraham and Mr. John Paolo R. Alvarez, respectively, and selected faculty of CTE worked on meeting the appropriate standards of quality education.

BCAEd, formerly BSEd MAPEH, aims to develop highly motivated, creative, and reflexive teachers equipped with knowledge, skills, and values in culture and arts education. BTLEd, formerly BSEd TLE, aims to develop highly competent and motivated teachers in technology and livelihood education for Grades 4-8. Both programs were first offered by CTE during the academic year 2018-2019. The Level 1 accreditations of the two programs are effective from August 1, 2024, to July 31, 2027.
