First Quezon Makiling Eagles Club partners with SLSU NSTP to aid Typhoon Kristine victims

In a heartwarming act of solidarity, the First Quezon Makiling Eagles Club, in partnership with the National Service Training Program (NSTP) unit of Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), distributed relief goods to individuals affected by Typhoon Kristine.

The relief distribution, which included essential items such as rice and canned goods, took place at the SLSU Gymnasium of Catanauan Campus on November 23, 2023, Saturday. The effort aimed to give assistance to the members of the SLSU community as they recover from the typhoon’s impacts, fostering a sense of unity and care during trying times.

Asst. Prof. Cerfred A. Alcantara, Campus Director of SLSU Catanauan, welcomed the participants and expressed his gratitude to the First Quezon Makiling Eagles Club and the NSTP Unit for their collaborative efforts. He emphasized the importance of coming together to address the immediate needs of those affected.

During the event, CLTC Nilo H. Dator, INF GSC PA (Res), NSTP Director and ROTC Commandant, highlighted the purpose of their organization and reaffirmed their commitment to serving the community. Additionally, he provided a concise overview of the areas in Quezon significantly affected by Typhoon Kristine.

The event was made more impactful by the presence of active members of the First Quezon Makiling Eagles Club, who played a key role in the relief distribution. Among those present were Jhun Nantes, SGT Manny M. Paulite, CPL William Forneste, and MSG Gabriel C. Cabangon. Their dedication and commitment exemplified the club’s mission to extend help to communities in need.

The relief recipients expressed their appreciation, noting how the support eased their immediate concerns and lifted their spirits. The event showcased how partnerships between organizations and educational institutions can bring meaningful assistance to communities during difficult times.

The program concluded with heartfelt closing remarks from Mr. Ernesto C. Formento III, LPT, ROTC Coordinator of SLSU Catanauan. He expressed his gratitude to all the organizers, donors, and participants for their efforts in making the initiative a success. Mr. Formento emphasized the importance of compassion and collaboration in overcoming challenges and encouraged everyone to continue supporting those in need.
