Southern Luzon State University, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office IV, LGU-Lucban, and Paaralang Sekundarya ng Lucban Integrated School, successfully concluded the Youth Development Session for 4Ps Lucban Youth, with a Culminating Activity cum Career Guidance and Orientation. The event took place at the CEn AVR, SLSU, Lucban, Quezon on June 7, 2024.
The program began with a welcoming remark by Dr. Leomar C. Miano, Director of Extension Services at SLSU. Dr. Miano, highlighted the Philippine Government’s goal to uplift the lives of the underprivileged families through the “Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps)”. She expressed her hope that this Youth Development Session (YDS) will serve as a stepping stone for participants’ future success.
Meanwhile, Prof. Gino A. Cabrera, delivered an insightful discussion on “Career Planning: Thinking Ahead, Moving Forward.” He guided the participants on the importance of knowing oneself in career selection, emphasizing the role of individual strengths and interests in making informed career choices. Prof. Cabrera also introduced the concept of “Ambisyon Natin 2040,” challenging the youth to aspire for a simple and comfortable life for themselves and their families by choosing the right career paths.
The day’s activities also featured a college orientation and campus tour, led by the deans and faculty members from the seven colleges of SLSU. This segment provided the participants with a glimpse into their potential future career choices and the academic environment of Southern Luzon State University.
YDS graduates also shared their success stories and accomplishments. Their stories aim to inspire the participants to continue thriving for a better.
The culminating activity underscored the commitment of SLSU and its partners to equip the youth with the necessary tools and knowledge for their personal and professional growth. Through this collaborative effort, the organizers aim to inspire the young participants to pursue their dreams and contribute positively to their communities.
