Dr. Frederick T. Villa, University President of Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), has been granted Regular Membership in the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) through a Special Provision, marking a historic milestone as the first SLSU researcher to attain the said status without prior admission as an Associate Member.
The Special Provision route is reserved for Filipino scientists with an exceptional track record and recognized leadership in research, such as Outstanding Young Scientists, Academicians, University Scientists, and recipients of the Balik Scientist Program.
Dr. Villa’s approval underscores his distinguished contributions as an inventor and researcher. He holds several Scopus-indexed publications and leads institutionally funded research projects on top of various administrative posts even prior to his election as President of SLSU. Notably, he is the first in SLSU to file a patent for his invention, the Coconut Husk Processing Machine.
He will be inducted as a Regular Member under Division VIII: Engineering and Industrial Research of the NRCP. The National Research Council of the Philippines is the most prestigious organization of researchers, scientists, and artists in the country.
With the approval of Dr. Villa’s regular membership, SLSU now has 5 regular and 17 associate members in the Council.
