As part of its 18th University Charter Day celebration, Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive education by formalizing scholarship agreements with 10 new student scholars from various indigenous communities in Quezon Province, March 24.
The qualified Indigenous Peoples (IP) scholars include five students from SLSU Catanauan: Jennefer P. Layones, Bernadeth V. Ramento, Realyn P. Patubo, John Loyd Carullo, and C-Jay M. Braria; three students from SLSU Polillo: Yhanah M. Barba, Regine B. Evangelista, and Resiel J. Sumido; and two students from SLSU Infanta: Wyndale D. Lingaling and Dave Argie F. Armada.
Each scholar will receive a monthly stipend of PhP 3,000 for eight semesters, ensuring financial support throughout their academic journey. This initiative is made possible through the collaboration of the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), led by Dean Aurelio Teodoro Maguyon III, and the OSAS Scholarship and Financial Assistance Unit, headed by Ms. Geraldine C. Bacagan. The Planning Office, under Prof. Jed Fank S. Marqueses, and the SLSU administration, represented by University President Dr. Frederick T. Villa, also played a key role in making this program a reality.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by university officials, including Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Dhenalyn Aquino-Dejelo, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs Dr. Arvin N. Natividad, and Vice President for Research, Extension, Production, Development, and Innovation Dr. Marissa C. Esperal, alongside representatives from the university’s finance offices.
By strengthening its support for indigenous students, SLSU continues to advance its mission of promoting accessibility, equity, and inclusivity in higher education.
