On October 11, Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) began the first phase of its strategic planning workshop with the theme, "Empowering People, Ensuring a Sustainable Future," as part of the process to formulate its 2025-2030 Strategic Development Plan (SDP).
University President Dr. Frederick T. Villa, together with the SLSU Administrative Council, Faculty Regent Bernardita E. Brillon, Student Regent Izza Mae B. De Guzman, and SLSU Employees Association President Emma Reyes, participated in the opening day of the workshop.
Key officials presented their consolidated SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) matrices and PESTLE (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, and Environmental) analyses for essential areas such as student services, instruction, research, extension, infrastructure, management information systems, and governance.
Members of the Administrative Council offered feedback and suggestions to improve the initial presentations, with the goal of enhancing services in these sectors.
In the afternoon session, Planning Office Director Jed Frank S. Marqueses and Information and Communications Office Head April Arianne A. de Leon discussed proposed strategic objectives and key strategies for each of the seven goals identified by the university. The body provided recommendations to further improve the strategic objectives and key strategies, which will be considered and presented in the next part of the workshop.
The second phase, scheduled for October 14-16, will involve Prof. Richard Anthony L. Cruz from the Asian Institute of Management, who will guide the team in refining the strategic plan. The final output is expected to provide a clear roadmap to help SLSU attain SUC Level IV status.
The SDP is still under development, with more planning and refinement to follow.
