SLSU-OIAA wraps up Capability Enhancement Training of CABHA and GS faculty on International Business with Catalyste+

With the support of the administration, the Office of International and Alumni Affairs (OIAA) facilitated a Capability Enhancement Training for the College of Administration, Business, Hospitality, and Accountancy (CABHA) and Graduate School-Doctor of Business Administration and Master in Business Administration (GS-DBA & MBA) Faculty – Part 2 in aim to update the faculty with trends and recent developments in international business operation, in cooperation with Catalyste+, CABHA, GS and Faculty and Staff Development Program (FSDP) unit of Human Resource Management Office.

SLSU-OIAA warmly welcomed the Catalyste+ delegates – Advisor Mr. Aarij Bashir and Project Officers Mr. Vener Valerio & Mr. Erwin Altamarino at SLSU main campus in Lucban, Quezon on July 24, 2023 followed by a courtesy call with the university officials: SLSU President Dr. Doracie B. Zoleta-Nantes, VP for Administrative and Financial Affairs Dr. Frederick T. Villa, VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Gondelina A. Radovan and VP for Research, Extension, Production, Development and Innovation Dr. Marissa C. Esperal. 

A campus tour was also conducted on the first day of stay of Mr. Bashir where he was able to learn the laboratories and facilities, particularly, the College of Allied Medicine, College of Administration, Business, Hospitality and Accountancy, Graduate School, main library and gymnasium. 

July 25, 2023 – a company visit to GreenLife Coconut Products, Inc., Tayabas City was facilitated as part of the training on International Business, joined by OIAA, Mr. Bashir, and the faculty of CABHA and GS. Mr. Francisco Rubio, Owner and CEO of GreenLife Coconut Products, Inc., made a brief presentation of their company including their products and exports, in which Mr. Bashir had imparted his knowledge on entering the international markets. Sharing of insights was also made between the company and the SLSU faculty. 

The faculty who was grouped into two, presented a review and enhancement on the last year’s export plan and a new company who has an export potential, and the learnings from the exporting of GreenLife Coconut Products, Inc. using the Market Development Continuum which were all commended by the Catalyste+ Advisor. The participants also expressed their appreciation to Mr. Bashir for sharing his expertise on the different approaches in an international business. 

A culminating activity was organized on July 27, 2023 to wrap up the training sessions, hosted by the OIAA through Director Dr. Joanna Paula E. Verano and assisted by OIAA staff: Mr. Dexter C. Diamante and Ms. Kaye Xandra D. Racelis, in coordination with the MIS and the respective offices. SLSU Head of FSDP Dr. Susana Salvacion formally opened the program by giving a warm welcome remark followed by the appreciation message by the SLSU President Dr. Doracie B. Zoleta-Nantes and attended by the faculty of CABHA and GS-DBA & MBA.

The faculty highlighted the relevance of the training in unlocking the potentials and innovative skills of faculty-entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs and shared their appreciation of Mr. Bashir, the Catalyste+ and the SLSU offices for organizing this program. Mr. Aarij also expressed his fair share of appreciation to the university, the faculty, staff and officials. Followed by the awarding of certificates to the Catalyste+ Advisor and the participants who have actively participated during the training. The closing remarks were delivered by the Dean of CABHA Dr. Chona V. Cayabat, Dean of Graduate School Dr. Mari Jane A. Lee, and Catalyste+ Project Officer Mr. Erwin Altamarino.
