In a bid to elevate its research initiatives and foster a culture of academic excellence, Tarlac State University (TSU) conducted a benchmarking activity with Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), aiming to explore innovative approaches and effective practices in research management and the generation of high-quality research outputs, May 9.
After a courtesy visit with SLSU President, Dr. Frederick T. Villa, TSU delegation led by Dr. Rogel L. Quilala, TSU Director of Office of University Research Development met with key officials, specifically SLSU Office of Research, Extension, Production, Development, and Innovation to gain insights into the latter’s institutional research framework, policies, and support mechanisms research management and quality research generation.
The benchmarking started with the welcoming remarks of the Vice President for REPDI, Dr. Marissa Esperal, followed by the presentations of the offices under REPDI. Mx. Amiel Jansen Demetrial, Head of the Knowledge Management Office, tackled journal management and institutional communication, while Dr. Nicanor L. Guinto, Director of the Office of Research Services, discussed submission and approval processes for research proposals.
Moreover, Dr. Felino Gutierrez, Jr., Director of the Office of Extension Services, presented the process and documentation for extension program impact assessment. Lastly, For. Eraldwin Dimailig, Director of Office of Production Services, talked about institutional organizational structure, as well as the production system of their office.
Both institutions expressed optimism about the future of their partnership, underscoring the importance of collaborative learning in achieving academic and research excellence in the Philippine higher education landscape.
