SLSU FA holds general assembly, emphasizes teachers’ well-being

Southern Luzon State University - Faculty Association (SLSU-FA) conducted a general assembly at the SLSU Gymnasium, placing faculty members’ well-being at the center of discussions as they continue to fulfill their academic and institutional responsibilities, February 20.

In line with SLSU’s continuing role in supporting mental wellness, Assoc. Prof. Gino A. Cabrera, President of Faculty Association (FA) and Faculty Regent of SLSU, emphasized in his speech the importance of cultivating a workplace culture that promotes open communication, recognition of accomplishments, and sustained support for educators.

Let us normalize checking on one another—not only about reports and submissions, but about well-being,” he said.

In pursuit of these goals, the general assembly approved several resolutions, including the confirmation of an increase in the multiplier for welfare benefits, a request for the administration to establish thesis policies and payment rates, and the association’s firm stance on implementing the minimum Qualification Standard (QS) for faculty appointment and promotion.

The program opened with a review of the minutes from the previous meeting, followed by the presentation of financial reports and highlights from the Board of Regents (BOR) meeting. Updates on ongoing programs, projects, and activities were also shared, alongside the association’s accomplishment report.
