In line with this year’s theme of Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (STW), “Siyensya, Teknolohiya, at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Kinabukasan,” the Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), through the Office of Research Services (ORS), spearheaded the 5th Research Congress on September 16.

The Congress provides a platform for the evaluation and dissemination of research outputs, featuring 17 faculty and employee papers, 13 student papers, and 30 poster entries.

The Agency In-House Review (AIHR) of Research Projects allowed faculty researchers to present their studies for evaluation, while the Student Research Conference featured student research presentations and encouraged academic exchange. The AIHR Poster Competition, meanwhile, provided researchers with an avenue to visually present their findings and innovations.

Experts from various fields were invited as external evaluators. For Category 1: Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the evaluators were Asst. Prof. Mark Louie Tabunan of the University of Northern Philippines in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur; Dr. Racquel G. Agustin of Cavite State University; and Dr. Delon A. Ching of Laguna State Polytechnic University.

For Category 2: Natural Sciences, Agriculture, and Innovation, the evaluators included Dr. Lloyd O. Balinado of Cavite State University, Dr. Raymond S. Bermudez of LGU Tayabas City, and Dr. Reniel S. Pamplona of the University of the Philippines Los Baños.

Aside from knowledge sharing, the Congress also recognized outstanding research contributions. Participants received certificates, while outstanding entries were set to receive awards and corresponding cash prizes. The winners were scheduled to be announced on September 17 during the Closing Ceremony.

Through the annual Congress, SLSU ensures that the University’s research undertakings remain of high quality. Through constructive feedback, individual initiatives are enriched and the reputation of SLSU as a hub of scholarly excellence and innovation is further strengthened.
