Through the Office of Extension Services (OES) of the Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), the 3rd Extension Conference was held on September 16 at the REPDI Training Center, SLSU Main Campus, Lucban, Quezon.

During the event, external evaluators shared their insights on the initial and short-term impacts of the extension projects on the community. The conference brought together external experts to assess the completed and ongoing extension programs and projects implemented by SLSU faculty members across its campuses.

For the Agency In-House Review (AIHR) of Completed Extension Projects, the evaluators were Dr. Ande M. Luna, Community Extension and NSTP Chair, National University–Laguna; Asst. Prof. Kristia Lei A. Reyes, Director of Extension Services, Batangas State University; and Dr. Christopher C. Mantillas, Associate Professor, IGRD, College of Agriculture and Food Science, University of the Philippines Los Baños.

For the Ongoing Extension Projects, the evaluators were Dr. Benedict O. Medina, Associate Professor IV, College of Arts and Sciences, Batangas State University; For. Carla O. Melodillar, University Researcher I, Forest Development Center, University of the Philippines Los Baños; and Ms. Rachell C. Gallano, Chairperson, Extension and Training Services, Laguna State Polytechnic University–Los Baños.

The completed extension projects presented during the conference were: 1) Kalinga at Kabuhayan sa Kababaihan: Paghahanda para sa Kinabukasan; 2) VIRUS: Vigilant Innovations and Reinforcements for User Safety against cyber-related problems in the 21st century; 3) Capacitating Coastal Barangays in Mauban, Quezon on Management Development Plan; 4) CTEhanan at Turuan: A Training Program for Research Capability Enrichment among Selected Senior High School Teachers in Lucban, Quezon; 5) Nutritional product Utilization Towards Restoring Income sources for the Community (NUTRI-C); 6) 3FPs: Food Processing, Food Packaging, and Food Product labeling among the Barangay Underserved Residents; 7) Habi agta: Hanap Buhay mula kay Inang kalikasan para sa mga Agta; and, 8) Mentoring the Sports mentors: A Program towards Building Champions!.

Simultaneously, OES conducted a review of the ongoing programs and projects, providing inputs to further improve the implementation of their deliverables and outcomes. The ongoing projects presented were: 1) CREATE: Community Resources for Entrepreneurial Advancement through Technology and Education; 2) Techno-Psych Serv: Technology-Based Psychological Services and Mental Health First Aid Training for Persons with Mental Disability (PWMD), Caregivers, and Community; 3) DINSULAN: Quezon Writers Workshop; 4) Bake & Brew (B&B): Empowering Solo Parents of Lucban with New Skills and Sustainable Livelihoods; 5) Bulati 2: Kalinisan Ay Palaganapin, Kalusugan Ay Pagyamanin; and, 6) Island Pineapple: Advancing Production through Sustainable Operations.

All presenters will receive a certificate, while exceptional extension projects will also receive cash prizes. Announcement of winners will be held on September 17 during the closing ceremony of the university’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (STW) celebration.
