Eat Bulaga! grants EBest Scholarships to 7 SLSU students
The Philippines’ longest noon-time variety show, Eat Bulaga! (EB), granted scholarships to seven students of the Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) during its Sugod Campus episode on October 24.
According to EB host and TVJ Productions co-owner Vic Sotto, aside from bringing the beloved show closer to the people of Quezon Province, they also wanted to grant scholarships to SLSU students.
“May mga estudyante dito na pinapunta ng [SLSU] Office of the President. Sumulat sila dahil… alam niyo na, maraming pagsubok sa hinaharap para maitawid ang pag-aaral. No’ng una sana, dalawa lang ang tatawagin natin pero parang kulang… Dagdagan na natin.”
Vic announced this before interviewing each EBest Scholar.
The seven students were selected from among the colleges of the Main Campus. Among the recipients are children of solo parents and working students who have been supporting themselves since entering the university. Through the initiative of Eat Bulaga!, they will receive financial assistance and a monthly allowance until they graduate.
This brings the total number of EBest Scholars from SLSU to eight, including the previous recipient, a BS Industrial Engineering student who is now in her second year of receiving the scholarship.
