CHED grants government permit for Doctor of Medicine program

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) granted Southern Luzon State University—College of Medicine (COM) a government permit to operate effective for AY 2024-2025.

The CHED Resolution 673-2024, COM can operate the first and second-year levels of the Doctor of Medicine program. On December 5, CHED Chairman, Dr. J. Prospero E. De Vera III signed Government Permit No. 19, s. 2024 provided that SLSU complies with the prescribed standards of instruction and other premises.

COM started its classes on December 9 with nine students. The first semester is set to finish on May 13, 2025. The second semester will begin on May 16.

The SLSU College of Medicine is the first state university in Quezon Province to offer a Doctor of Medicine program. With this, SLSU will be able to produce medical practitioners who will serve the geographically isolated and disadvantaged area of the province.
