SLSU accelerates recruitment efforts, set to fill more vacancies by year-end

Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) is ramping up its recruitment process, aggressively filling vacant teaching and non-teaching positions as it adheres to the principles of equal employment opportunity and competency-based recruitment. The University is on track to meet its staffing goals, with more vacancies expected to be filled before the year ends.

On September 30, SLSU welcomed 21 newly appointed personnel who took their oath in various positions. Of these, 18 faculty positions and one coterminous non-teaching position were filled through the University’s Institutional Merit Systems and Promotion Plan, while two were under faculty reclassification through CHED-DBM Joint Circular No. 3, series of 2024.

Additionally, 17 teaching and two non-teaching personnel are set to take their oaths of office, following the approval from the SLSU Board of Regents in their recent meeting. Several other positions are still under deliberation and are expected to be announced very soon.

Since the beginning of 2024, the SLSU administration, in close collaboration with the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), has successfully filled over 200 teaching and non-teaching positions. Much of this progress is attributed to the efforts of the outgoing HRMO Head, Assoc. Prof. Gino A. Cabrer, who has been instrumental in refining the University’s recruitment process. Under his guidance, the HRMO utilized a variety of assessment tools, including standardized tests, competency examinations, background checks, character references, demo teaching, and interviews. He also re-introduced the onboarding and New Employees Orientation (NEO) and started the conduct of the SLSU Faculty Scholars’ Assembly. His dedication and commitment to streamlining HR operations have been vital in ensuring that SLSU attracts the best talent.

Assoc. Prof. Cabrera’s tenure at the HRMO has left a lasting impact, ensuring that SLSU’s recruitment process remains transparent, efficient, and aligned with institutional goals. The University extends its heartfelt gratitude for his invaluable service and the significant initiatives made under his term of office.

Prospective applicants interested in joining SLSU’s pool of qualified professionals are encouraged to check job postings through the Civil Service Portal, the University’s website, SLSU social media platforms, recruitment boards, and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO).
