Recognition for the benefactor, retirees, and employees was given during the celebration of the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) on December 20.
Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) commemorated the awardees who have greatly contributed to the achievements of the institution. In particular, the university president, Dr. Frederick T. Villa, highlighted how each one of the awardees deserves the spotlight.
The milestones of the university were made possible through the help of the benefactors; among them is Mr. Jose A. Pandy. He donated land to SLSU, a gift that made a substantial contribution to the development of education and the fulfillment of the university’s vision, mission, and goals. Mr. Pandy was also one of the founding members of the institution. Ms. Nilda Salvaleon, daughter of Mr. Pandy, received the award.
The event also highlighted this year’s faculty retirees: Dr. Gondelina A. Radovan, who served the university for 37 years; Associate Professor I, Gilberto C. Venzuela, who served for 32 years; and Associate Professor III, Alexandra Wanda L. Villon, who dedicated 37 years of service.
An Exemplary Behavior Award was given to teaching and non-teaching personnel who showed exceptional conduct as a public official and/or employee. Among the five nominees each in the teaching and non-teaching category, Engr. Zoren P. Mabunga from the College of Engineering (CEN) and Ms. Arceli R. Obmerga from the Office of Extension Services received the award.
Meanwhile, Mr. Brian D. Villaverde of the College of Arts and Sciences was hailed as this year’s Outstanding Teaching Personnel, and Mr. Roberto R. Dalmacion of the General Services Office is this year’s Outstanding Non-teaching Personnel.

In addition, Dr. Renato R. Maaliw was hailed as the 2023 Outstanding SLSU Researcher. This is the third time Dr. Maaliw received the award. Lastly, Dr. Nona D. Nagares and Ms. Alma J. Caringal were named the 2024 Innovators of the Year.
The event also commended the efforts of the committee, which actively engaged in the commencement of PRAISE 2024.
