SULÉO 2026 brought SLSU technologies closer to commercialization
Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) brought university-developed technologies closer to potential markets and industry partners through SULÉO 2026, a Technology Commercialization Pitching Competition held on September 16, 2026, at the Banahaw Hall as part of the University’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Week celebration.
With the theme “Where Tech Meets Its Next Act,” SULÉO 2026 also provided a platform for the said technologies with existing intellectual property protection to explore their commercialization readiness and possible pathways for adoption. The initiative was led by the Innovation and Technology Support Services Office, in partnership with the DOST PCAARRD RAISE Program Phase 2, SLSU Technology Business Incubator, and other concerned SLSU offices.
The competition followed a multi-stage process that included the identification and screening of intellectual property registered technologies, team formation, technology immersion, mentoring, and commercialization coaching before the Grand Pitching Competition. Participating teams worked with faculty inventors or technology mentors in developing commercialization proposals and strengthening their understanding of the technologies they represented.
During the pitching competition, teams presented the problems addressed by their technologies, value propositions, potential customers and market opportunities, competitive advantages, commercialization strategies, and possible industry or investment linkages. The activity challenged participants to look beyond the technical features of an innovation and communicate how it could respond to actual market needs and move toward practical application.
The following technologies emerged as the finalists of the technology pitching competition: (1) Banana Preservation Device, (2) Kalumpit Wine, (3) Notification System Device for Harvesting of By-products of Stingless Bees, (4) Areca Leaf Sheath Fiber, (5) Improved Rollator for Persons with Ambulatory Dysfunction, (6) Ready-to-eat Breakfast Cereals from the Blends of Winged Bean and Rice Flour, and (7) Mushroom Oatmeal Cookies.
SULÉO 2026 also created opportunities for promising technologies to advance toward further technology transfer and commercialization support, including technology refinement, industry engagement, business development, incubation, market validation, and participation in other innovation platforms.
Through SULÉO 2026, SLSU strengthened the connection between research, intellectual property, entrepreneurship, and commercialization, giving university developed technologies a clearer path from research outputs to innovations with potential value for industries and communities.
