The Office of Research Services (ORS) conducted a hybrid meeting to welcome the newly-designated and re-appointed Research Coordinators. The meeting also served as an avenue to provide an overview of their expected deliverables.

Ms. Jean Venelie G. Raga, ORS Science Research Assistant, opened the meeting by introducing the new and reappointed Research Coordinators:

Dr. Marissa C. Esperal, Vice President for Research, Extension, Production, Development, and Innovation, and Dr. Cherry C. Favor, REPS Assistant Director of SLSU JGE Tagkawayan Campus, were also acknowledged for their presence.

Dr. Nicanor L. Guinto, ORS Director, discussed the roles and responsibilities of the Research Coordinators and emphasized the University’s research targets, particularly areas that need attention to qualify as a State University and College (SUC) Level IV. He appealed for the Coordinators’ full support to achieve these goals.

Ms. April Arianne A. de Leon, ORS Education Program Specialist, presented SLSU’s recent research milestones and stressed the importance of timely submission of required reports, which are regularly being submitted for information of the Board of Regents and other requesting parties. She also highlighted the services and incentives available to SLSU researchers through ORS.

Ms. Jillian H. Bautista, ORS Science Research Assistant, discussed the financial and physical monitoring of funded research projects. She urged the Research Coordinators to remind faculty researchers of the timely submission of progress reports, a prerequisite for entitlement to Equivalent Teaching Load.

During the open forum, participants discussed several topics, including thesis title reviews and the format of undergraduate research. Key matters were noted for action.

The hybrid meeting was held on September 9, 2024, at the REPDI Training Center, REPDI Building, Southern Luzon State University, Lucban, Quezon.
