SLSU MIS-ICT introduces Cloud Storage Service for centralized and efficient file management

The Management Information Systems and Information and Communications Technology (MIS ICT) Office of Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) recently presented the proposed guidelines for the university’s new in-house cloud storage service.

The cloud storage service aims to provide a secure and centralized system for storing and managing files related to official university functions. The proposed guidelines outline authorized usage, permitted file types, storage capacity management, and user responsibilities in ensuring data security.

Mr. Francis Pasumbal, head of the MIS ICT Office, led the presentation, which outlined the platform’s objectives, scope, and terms of use. He also explained that the initial rollout will prioritize selected offices with limited storage capacity. Access to the platform may be expanded to additional offices and colleges as the university upgrades its hardware resources.

A demonstration of the platform was then conducted by Mr. Jedd Wilson Borgonia, Information System Analyst II of the MIS-ICT Office, who introduced the in-house cloud storage to the participants. He demonstrated how users can access their accounts, change their default passwords, upload files, share folders, and utilize the mobile application for easier file management.

It was also clarified during the meeting that existing files stored in Google Drive will not be migrated or affected by the new platform implementation. Instead, the in-house cloud storage will serve as an additional storage option that offices and colleges may use to manage their files more effectively.

Representatives were encouraged to explore the platform, update their account information, and maintain proper file organization while following university policies on data security and responsible storage use. The implementation of the new in-house cloud storage service marks an important step in strengthening SLSU’s digital infrastructure and improving secure file management and collaboration across university offices and colleges.
