Dr. Motoki Higa, a lecturer from Kochi University, Japan, visited the Mt. Banahaw Forest Protection and Conservation Unit (MBFPCU) of the Southern Luzon State University to conduct an ocular visit from Sept. 6–7, 2023.
Dr. Higa stated that he intended to examine the forest characteristics of different protected areas (PAs) in the Philippines, particularly Mt. Banahaw, which may serve as a future area for forest-funded research. Dr. Francisco Beltran, the director of MBFPCU, accompanied Dr. Higa on the two-day trip. Only an ocular visit and no data collection were carried out during the activity in accordance with the laws and regulations of the MBFPCU and the Department of Environmental Natural Resources – Protected Area and Management Board (DENR-PAMB).
