Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) strengthened its pathways for research commercialization, technology transfer, and enterprise development through the launching of the 2026 SLSU Spin-Off Policy, the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Quezon, and the ceremonial signing of Technology Licensing Agreements with Amarich Marketing International during the opening of 2026 Science, Technology, and Innovation Week on September 15.

The 2026 SLSU Spin-Off Policy provided a clearer institutional framework for transforming University-developed research outputs and intellectual property into viable enterprises. It established a pathway for researcher employees to commercialize intellectual property, registered technologies, products, and processes developed through SLSU research.

SLSU also formalized its partnership with DTI Quezon to strengthen the connection between the University’s research and innovation capabilities and the development needs of micro, small, and medium enterprises in Quezon Province. The collaboration covers areas such as innovation and technology adoption, technology transfer and commercialization, startup and enterprise incubation, intellectual property management, product development, entrepreneurship, market access, and research and development.

Further advancing technology transfer, SLSU signed Technology Licensing Agreements with Amarich Marketing International for the commercialization of its Nipa Sugar and Nipa Syrup technologies. The agreements granted Amarich Marketing International nonexclusive and nontransferable licenses to adopt, produce, and commercialize the technologies while SLSU retained ownership of the intellectual property.

The agreements also established mechanisms for technical assistance, training, quality control, and commercialization support to help move the University-developed technologies toward wider market application.

Through policy launching, government partnership, and technology licensing, SLSU strengthened the link between research and practical application, creating clearer pathways for University-generated technologies to move from development toward enterprise, industry use, and broader community benefit.
