The Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) pushed through the celebration of Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (STIW) after Tropical Storm Kristine hit the Philippines, October 28.
Director of SLSU Tiaong, aProf. Alma J. Caringal, welcomed the officials and students in the opening program and expressed appreciation for everyone’s support despite the several delays.

In his inspirational speech, the University President, Dr. Frederick T. Villa, encouraged the faculty and students to produce research and highlighted tips for conducting research.
Dr. Ramon Christian P. Eusebio, Division Chair of the Engineering and Industrial Research of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP), served as the keynote speaker. In his speech, Dr. Eusebio emphasized the importance of the realization of ideas for the common good and its translation into layman’s terms to widen the understanding and knowledge of everyone.

During the opening program, SLSU also turned over the IEG Project Marker to Tanggol Kalikasan, Inc. The Innovation and Technology Support Services Office also formally launched the BOR-approved Technology Business Incubation (TBI) Hub of SLSU. A ribbon-cutting ceremony followed thereafter, marking the official opening of the booths from the different colleges and campuses.
The opening program of the STIW was rescheduled after the three-day cancellation of classes. The closing ceremony will resume later today.
