SLSU and DTI-Quezon Hold Exploratory Meeting for Potential MOA

Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Quezon held an exploratory meeting to discuss a potential Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to strengthen collaboration in research, innovation, and business development. The meeting was attended by Ms. Julieta Tadiosa, CESO V, Provincial Director of DTI-Quezon, Dr. Marissa C. Esperal, Vice President for Research, Extension, Production, and Development, and Innovation (REPDI), and For. Eraldwin A. Dimailig, Director of the Office of Production Services.

Mr. Aeriel Gilbert P. Dimaranan, Crafts Education Demonstrator I, presented on behalf of the Office of Production Services, highlighting the partnership’s objectives. Ms. Anna Marie V. Quincina, Division Chief of Business Development Division of DTI-Quezon, provided an overview of past and ongoing collaborations, while Ms. Honeylee Eclavea, Senior Trade Industry Development Specialist, discussed key points for the proposed MOA.

The proposed collaboration aims to enhance product innovation through improved packaging, design, and labeling for MSMEs. Business incubation and mentorship programs will be developed to support startups and aspiring entrepreneurs. Research and development initiatives will focus on improving product quality, processing techniques, and certification compliance. Agri-based product processing and commercialization will help add value to local agricultural products such as coconut, cacao, and coffee. Enterprise training programs will equip MSMEs with essential technical, managerial, and marketing skills, while internship opportunities will provide students with industry exposure and hands-on experience.

This collaboration aims to foster economic growth, innovation, and academic engagement in Quezon Province, strengthening the university’s role in community development and industry support.
