SLSU, PNVSCA signs MOA to strengthen volunteerism initiatives

The Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) and the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) inked a memorandum of agreement on March 14 to strengthen and increase the number of volunteerism-related activities.

Dr. Frederick T. Villa, University President, and Mr. Donald James D. Gawe, PNVSCA Executive Director, represented their respective institutions. Under the agreement, SLSU shall be responsible for the designation or creation of a Volunteerism Office in the university, which will oversee the mainstreaming of volunteerism in all the departments/units and monitor and evaluate volunteering initiatives. Moreover, SLSU is expected to actively engage in volunteerism activities, such as to engage in research or studies related to volunteerism. Further, under the agreement, SLSU will provide technical assistance in mainstreaming volunteerism in local governance, among others. On the other hand, PNVSCA shall provide technical assistance on volunteerism-related initiatives to further capacitate SLSU’s volunteer service corps, among others.

This agreement shall be effective for three years.
