SLSU, Unbound conduct livelihood training on hair cutting

Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), in partnership with Unbound Manila Foundation, Inc., recently held a livelihood training program on cosmetology, specializing in hair cutting for community beneficiaries, on March 26 at Brgy. Calumpang, Tayabas City.

Assistant Professor Alex S. Peras from the College of Administration, Business, Hospitality, and Accountancy (CABHA) led the training with an informative discussion on hair cutting, such as tools, techniques, and the different kinds of haircuts. Moreover, Prof. Peras shared his personal experience as a beautician, sharing how his foundation in his early years came from his occupation as a beautician. He encouraged the participants to utilize this opportunity as leverage to improve their lives.

The lecture was followed by a hands-on demonstration, where a/Prof. Peras and his team beauticians, Mr. Alberto Salvan and Mr. Jun Laguartilla, guided trainees through their first haircutting exercises. Participants enthusiastically practiced the techniques, gaining confidence under their mentors’ supervision.

The initiative reflects the commitment of SLSU and the Unbound Manila Foundation Inc. to empowering communities through skills-based education. Meanwhile, more plans for future training are underway to further capacitates their beneficiaries.
