
Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) formalized its collaboration with various Local Government Units (LGUs) in Laguna through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to facilitate the implementation of a Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) project funded by the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD), June 17.
The RDE project aims to empower private extension workers to lead sustainable supply chain management in the vegetable and fruit sectors. Through this collaboration, SLSU and DOST-PCAARRD seek to strengthen ties between academia, local communities, and government institutions.
The project shall be implemented by Dr. Chona V. Cayabat, Dr. Leomar C. Miano, Dr. Mari Jane A. Lee, Dr. Claire Ann M. Yao, and Assoc. Prof. Gino A. Cabrera, who are committed to ensuring its success through their commitment and expertise.
Representing SLSU was University President Dr. Frederick T. Villa, while the contracting LGU officials included Mayor Gerald A. Aritao of Pangil, Laguna; Dr. Ron Marco Lameyra, Municipal Agriculturist of LGU Famy; Mayor Alberto Reyes of Mabitac, Laguna; Eugene Reniva, Municipal Administrator of LGU Pangil; and Alexander Flores, Municipal Agriculture Officer of LGU Siniloan.
Also present to witness the event was Dr. Marissa Esperal, Vice President for Research, Extension, Production, Development, and Innovation, and Dr. Nicanor L. Guinto, Director of the Office of Research Services.
