The Provincial Government of Quezon, the local government unit of Lucban, and the sports and tourism sector of the province joined the Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) in the conduct of capability building and a multi-sectoral conference from September 30 to October 1.
During the first day of the event, Coach Ana Dulce Baylon Yango, the project lead of the Sports Development and Management Program of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), discussed the overview of CHED’s Community Sports and Wellness Program and its alignment with the Provincial Community Sports and Wellness Council.
As part of the workshop, the attendees, composed of educators, administrators, and students, crafted and presented the vision, mission, and goals for the proposed Quezon Provincial Community Sports and Wellness Council.
On the last day, Dr. Roberto P. Alabado III, director of the Office of Film and Sports Tourism of the Department of Tourism (DOT), emphasized the importance of sports and tourism in the development of the province and its role as an economic driver.
This initiative is in line with the SPORTSS (Sports Performance Optimization, Revitalization, and Transformation for all Sectors of Society) Program, which aims to build an indoor sports facility and train professionals. This project was made possible with the support of the Provincial Government, LGU Lucban, and the community, as well as through the Php 20 million grant from CHED.
