Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) once again showcased its research excellence as the team led by Prof. Amalia E. Almazol, PhD, earned top distinctions at the 38th Regional Symposium on Research, Development, and Extension Highlights (RSRDEH) of the 3rd Regional Research and Innovation Week (RRIW), organized by the Southern Tagalog Agriculture, Aquatic, and Resources Research, Development, and Extension Consortium (STAARRDEC).
The team’s entries, presented on October 27 at De La Salle University – Dasmariñas, Cavite, won the Best Poster Award and the 2nd Best Research Paper Award among 13 participating entries from Consortium Member Institutions. The awarding ceremony was held on October 30 at the same venue.
Their winning outputs stemmed from the DOST-PCAARRD–funded project titled “Biodiversity of Mt. Banahaw de Lucban, Quezon, Philippines.” The research team includes Prof. Francisco N. Beltran, PhD; Assoc. Prof. Ronald C. Garcia; Asst. Prof. Eraldwin A. Dimailig; University Research Associate Almar John A. Luna; Project Technical Assistants John Louis S. Narinay, Daniel S. Gaelon, and Liam Karl S. Manago; and, Asst. Prof. Dennis E. Pulan.
The group received ₱10,000 and certificates for each award, recognizing their outstanding contributions to Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) research in the region.
This year’s RRIW carried the theme “Sustaining Partnerships: Driving Collaborative Innovation for a Resilient AANR Future,” underscoring the importance of collaboration in advancing AANR across Southern Tagalog.
