Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) is taking a bold step toward sustainability with the launch of Yuyan’s Ecological and Sustainable Park (YES Park)—a transformative project set to convert the Hermano Pule Ornamentum into a vibrant, eco-friendly space for students and the community.
Situated near the university’s main gate in SLSU Lucban, the 1,455-square-meter park will feature lounge areas, study and dining huts, and a cozy coffee shop, providing a welcoming environment for up to 200 individuals. Designed with sustainability at its core, YES Park will incorporate solar-powered lighting, rainwater recycling, and eco-friendly materials, all while preserving the site’s existing trees and greenery.
With an investment of PHP 2.5 million through the FY 2024 PRE – Special Trust Fund, this 150-day project underscores SLSU’s commitment to environmental stewardship and student well-being. More than just a green space, YES Park will serve as a hub for relaxation, collaborative learning, and community engagement, aligning with the university’s vision of a future-ready, technology-driven, and environmentally responsible institution.
Through initiatives like YES Park, SLSU continues its pursuit of excellence in sustainable development, further cementing its place among the Green Universities in the Philippines.
