To promote innovation and enhance services, the Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) Infanta Campus hosted a Stakeholders Forum and Orientation on Product Innovation and Services, in collaboration with UPLB-BIOTECH, on August 15, 2023, at the SLSU Infanta Campus in Infanta, Quezon.
The forum was part of the “SLSU-REED+PLUS” extension project, aimed at creating a comprehensive model for Research, Extension, Enterprise, and Policy Development Continuum at SLSU Infanta Campus. Researchers from BIOTECH’s Food, Feed, and Specialty Products Program discussed the science, benefits, and applications of technologies developed by the institute. Topics included food safety, fermentation technologies, probiotics, and biosecurity.
Additionally, they presented an overview of the lambanog industry and methods for alcohol production and nipa sap extraction. Infanta, Quezon is a major producer of lambanog in Quezon Province.
A total of 106 beneficiaries, including farmers, fisherfolks, and women’s associations from Infanta and General, Quezon, actively participated in the forum.
