SLSU CAS students among DOST-PCHRD thesis grantees

Students from Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) - College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) will receive up to PhP 75,000 through the prestigious Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) Undergraduate Thesis Grant in Natural Products.

Ms. Mika Jerlyn Soberon, Mr. John Emmanuel Labsan, and Mr. Jann Rian Porol are among the 25 grantees selected from thirteen regions across the Philippines, including NCR, BARMM, and Regions I, II, III, IV-A, V, VI, VII, IX, X, XI, and XII. They will be granted funds for conducting research on natural products derived from plants and microorganisms.

Their thesis, titled “Phytochemical, Antiangiogenic, and Anti-Proliferative Properties of Amaranthus viridis L. Roots Extracts Against Human Breast (MCF-7), Colon (HCT 116), and Lung (A549) Cancer Cell Lines,” will be conducted under the guidance of their adviser, Dr. Editha E. de Jesus.
